Job Purpose:-

  1. Enable the assigned Shell’s Upstream Operating units, and it’s on site employees in producing high value information and data for high quality asset hierarchy/asset structure, Safety Critical Elements(SCEs), bill of materials (BoM) etc., as measured by improvement trends in data quality.
  2. Understand the complexities and intricacies of the preventive and corrective maintenance activities and Prepare work packs/task lists for preventive/corrective maintenance of static viz. Pressure Safety Valves,
  3. Pressure Vessels, Columns, Heat Exchangers etc & Rotating equipments like engines, compressors, pumps, turbines etc., by studying the operations and maintenance manuals of OEMs, P&IDs/PEFS general task lists, equipment specific task lists, overhaul reports, maintenance reports, spare part list, preventive maintenance strategies etc., and technical discussions with global, site maintenance leads/technical authorities & OEMs/Vendors etc.,
  4. Preparation of RBI data sheets, converting process flow diagram into material selection diagrams, identifying corrosion loops, identifying integrity operating windows and operating parameters from corrosion monitoring framework, preparing corrosion loop descriptions and tags, identification of dominant failure modes & damage mechanism, knowledge of RBI procedures.
  5. Ensure Data validation of all the templates, create automation tools in order to expedite the process and speedy implementation. Review error log sheet, finding solutions and implement the same for maintaining high quality data uploads in the system.
  6. Analyze technical data, drawings (P&IDs. PEFS, PFD, SLD etc.) documents and processes for Upstream businesses across the globe by working with engineering, maintenance, operations and project teams & partners.
  7. May be required to support in Development of comprehensive plans (Projects-Green field & Brownfield/ Maintenance/ Turnaround/ Shutdowns) and schedule it in MS Project/Primavera P6 with look ahead and catch up plans (as applicable) with optimization and allocation of the resources(man, materials & machines/tools) .
  8. Support projects, maintenance & improvements activities performed at the Upstream & Integrated Gas operating units.

Principal Accountabilities:-

  • Preparing/developing asset structure/register and bill of materials (BoM) using the equipments drawings, circuit diagrams, PEFS, P&IDs, operation and maintenance manuals of OEMs etc., for Upstream operating units as per Shell Standards.
  • Preparation of RBI data sheets, converting process flow diagram into material selection diagrams, identifying corrosion loops, identifying integrity operating windows and operating parameters from corrosion monitoring framework, preparing corrosion loop descriptions and tags, identification of dominant failure modes & damage mechanism, knowledge of RBI procedures.
  • Preparation, cleansing, validation of inspection data for Web based Inspection Management(WIMS) deployment in the designated/assigned OUs, RBI data preparation, migrating pacer data and explain the inspection engineers on how to use CIMS tool and explain the analysis and results.
  • Support in Development of comprehensive plans(Projects-Green field & Brownfield/ Maintenance/ Turnaround/ Shutdowns) and schedule it in MS Project/Primavera P6 with look ahead and catch up plans (as applicable) with optimization and allocation of the resources(man, materials & machines/tools) .
  • Support in preparing the Management reports in terms of schedule progress, cost progress and resource utilization.
  • Preparing/developing comprehensive workpacks/Task Lists from overhaul reports, maintenance reports, general task list, equipment specific task lists, spare part list, equipments drawings, circuit diagrams, P&IDs, operation and maintenance manuals of OEMs etc., for static equipment viz. Pressure Safety Valves, Pressure Vessels, Columns, Heat Exchangers etc. & Rotating equipments like engines, compressors, pumps, turbines etc, for Upstream operating units as per Shell Standards.
  • These work packs include detailed description of the tasks that need to be performed for overhauling / maintenance of each machine, parts required, tools required, time required and relationship between tasks.
  • May also be involved in leading the team of engineers onsite in an operating unit for physically verifying the piping, equipments, instruments etc., vis-à-vis the as build drawings such as P&IDs, PEFS, Control loops, DCS, General Layouts etc.,
  • Create the Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasklists and general task lists based on the maintenance strategy and link it with maintenance plans and items. Interact and communicate with the site focals for Preventive Maintenance Libraries and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies about how the actual maintenance activities for static equipment, rotating equipment and other machinery have been planned and performed in various Upstream Operating Units of Shell.
  • Assist the Senior Process Data Engineer in responding to inquiries related to the data and its functionality or use in a technical support function; including training site staff in ERPs or use of Request Tools, running pilot tests and demonstrations, increasing awareness of ERP functionality (e.g. using Measurement Points more effectively.) This Technical Support function includes supporting managers and other staff on migration efforts.
  • Business knowledge and operational skills on activities at the operating units, manufacturing site, chemical plant, supply chain and distribution location. Includes specific methods, software and hardware.
  • Confidence to work in virtual environment and managing engagement across different levels of stakeholders. Includes strong proficiency in using English for both spoken and written communication, as well as using Skype for Business, Instant Messaging, Video Conferencing, Outlook, etc.
  • Shift work following operating hours of the upstream operation units across the globe.
  • Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations.
  • A self-starter leader and reliable deliverer, with very good verbal and written skills in English, able to negotiate with senior or difficult people, and able to resist undue influence that might otherwise compromise integrity of data quality.
  • Exposes the individual to all cultural backgrounds and organizational levels across the globe, across diverse timezones.
  • Understanding the functions of the various equipments and instruments and also thorough knowledge of reading/ interpreting the engineering drawings (P&IDs, PEFS, PFDs).
  • Although the role involves the remote support to the upstream operating units/sites. However, the candidate should be willing to travel to various operating units/sites across the globe as per requirements.

Requirements -

Mandatory Education/Experience:

  • University Degree in Mechanical/ Industrial Engineering.
  • Required 2 to 4 plus yrs. of industrial/field experience in project execution/ operations and maintenance/engineering/ technical jobs Oil & Gas/ Petrochemicals/ Heavy Industries/Power Plants/Steel Plants/Fertilizer Plants or any equivalent manufacturing industry past degree in one or more of the following fields: -
  • Field experience in inspection processes, corrosion monitoring and related technical know-how, knowledge of various NDT processes, inspection management plans, task lists, piping integrity and maintenance of static equipment like pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers etc, & knowledge in Risk Based Inspection(RBI) Methodology.
  • Industrial experience in operations and maintenance/erection & commissioning of heavy rotating equipment like engines, compressors, turbines, centrifugal pumps, etc., with experience in maintenance planning, preparing the maintenance work instructions, task lists, maintenance plans, work and manpower estimation for major maintenance of the rotary equipment.
  • Experience in Planning and scheduling Major and Minor Plant Turnarounds/Shutdowns, day to day preventive maintenance. Resource allocation and leveling. Manpower planning and allocation. Understanding the safety requirement and Risk Assessment with hands on experience working in planning & scheduling tools viz. MS Projects/Primavera.
  • Project planning and scheduling –Should have experience in planning and scheduling small or large-scale projects either greenfield or brownfield. Should have the know how to integrate vendor provided schedule in the main schedule and identify the critical path activities. Should have experience in resource and manpower calculations, levelling and allocation with hands on experience working in planning & scheduling tools viz. MS Projects/Primavera.
  • Filed Experience in Engineering Projects –Front end execution, supporting the EPCM contractor with execution, quality inspection of the project work
  • Experience in Plant Maintenance area as user of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Web based Inspection Management Systems (WIMS), Engineering Document Management Systems (EDMS.), Asset Hierarchy Build/Register & Bill of Materials(BOM) etc.,

Desirables/Added Value :-

  • Working knowledge/Experience in maintaining Upstream Asset hierarchy/ Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW)/ AIM-EDMS/ SPI In tools / IDMS/ Web Inspection Management System (WIMS) is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering certification (API RBI-580/581 etc.,) is preferred.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in SAP PM/MM module is an added value.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access etc., is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge/Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoPlant and other design and drafting software will be an added advantage.
  • Effective communication skill and stakeholder management is a necessary skill for the job.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma CI methodology is an added value.
  • Virtual working experience highly desirable.
