Qualifications/Requirements :
- BS/MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field with Renewable Energy emphasis preferred.
- 3-5 years experience relevant to design, validation of controls software, preferably in wind turbine systems.
- 2 years experience developing software in MATLAB / Simulink
- Proven experience with working in a global, cross-functional team.
- Demonstrated team player with strong communication skills.
- Some knowledge of wind turbine generator physical principles.
Essential Responsibilities :
Primary responsibilities include simulation testing and validation of controls systems software releases, as well as customer issues resolution.
Occasionally, the engineer might be called to support controls software development activities, with requirements gathering, algorithm development of controls features, documentation of software design, computer/lab simulations, and field validation tests.

- Perform controls software builds
- Simulate and validate controls software releases
- Download and test physical wind turbines
- Troubleshoot controls software issues and provide resolution
- Support Controls configuration management activities
- Contribute to controls software release planning and perform coordination
- Support validation tools and methods development
- Provide timely customer support
- Maintain control of the safety aspects of the wind turbine as software and electrical components change.
Desired Characteristics :
- Broad technical knowledge of wind turbines.
- Experience in modeling, controls, dynamics, testing, and design of wind turbines.
- Skilled in control system design for wind turbine applications, including advanced controls.
- Experienced in modeling and simulating wind turbines in computer simulation codes, such as ADAMS, Bladed, Flex5, and FAST, Simulink or equivalent industry simulation tools.
- Experienced in validation of wind turbine simulation codes in comparison to measurement data.
- Experienced in performing analysis and evaluation of loads data and measurement sensors.
- Experience with GE Mark VIe controller.
- Experience with wind turbine monitoring, control and automation hardware and software.
- Understanding of electric utility transmission and distribution systems.
