Learning at Tesco
Open to all colleagues, Learning at Tesco platform puts the individual in control of their personal development. It comprises of number of option from which colleagues can select the one which offers them they learning they are looking for in a way which suits their learning style. They can select from:
1.In-house programmes - Run by in-house Subject Matter Experts, these short modules of learning are easily accessible to many during working hours
2.External training programmes – Colleagues can choose the learning partners for themselves and get trained on skill sets expertise of their choice. Tesco reimburses the colleagues who complete their courses successfully
3.Career Coaching -These are guided self-reflective sessions, to help colleagues discover what is important to them in their life, how work fits into their personal priorities, what their drivers are, what their interests and ambitions are
4. Development programme for Women in Technology – An inclusive career development programme for women in technology enabling them to own and build successful career at Tesco

Transparent and fair

Women friendly policies
Our Maternity policy completely abides by the Maternity Benefit Act 2017 which entitles women colleagues to avail full paid absence from work. We have a special policy where mother can extend the leave by 6 months for which no compensation will be offered. However, the colleagues will be entitled for paid leaves during this period.
- In house childcare facility - We are very proud of our in-house crèche facility. Our in-house architects designed a bespoke facility that gives our colleagues Children the light and space to play, learn and be cared for. We have teamed up with a leading brand to provide us with an excellent curriculum and experienced childcare professionals.
- Due to popular demand, we extended our Childcare offer to a second site, ensuring that no Child is on a waiting list, and that the youngest infants and close to their Mothers throughout the day. The facility is open to all Children (regardless of whether it’s their Mother or Father that works at Tesco).
Travel Safety - For women colleagues who work in late shifts, we provide a security guard to escort them back
Flexible working – At Tesco Bengaluru, we support our colleagues’ work life balance by giving them the opportunity to work from home. Our aim is to provide a degree of flexibility with no limitations on number of days to our colleagues and their managers which will allow them to better balance the demands of the workplace their personal circumstances. In this dynamic working environment there are times it may be more appropriate and productive to complete certain tasks or projects away from office
Sabbatical - Our colleagues may want to take a break from work at some point to: pursue higher education or upskill themselves professionally; join their spouse on an international trip; or may be required to be off work to tend to an ailing family member. Our career break is a way of allowing our colleagues to take an unpaid break from work ranging from 3 months up to 1 year.
