The Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across GE to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.Essential ResponsibilitiesThe Data Engineer, will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team on commercially facing development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include statisticians, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, product managers, and end users, working in concert with partners in GE business units. Potential application areas include remote monitoring and diagnostics across infrastructure and industrial sectors, financial portfolio risk assessment, and operations optimization. Performs a variety of data loads & data transformations. Working knowledge of methods for parsing, formatting, & transforming data into units consistent with analytical needs. Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of logical/physical data models that support MDM best practices. Performs integration of multiple data source-formats into master data load.Qualifications/Requirements :• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent with 1-5 years of experience
• 1-3 years of data warehouse, SQL and / or ETL technical experience
• A minimum of 1 year of experience using Informatica / Talend
Desired Characteristics :
• Experience working with Informatica 9x.
• Experience working with SQL, & PL SQL.
• Experience writing Unix, Linux, and Batch scripts.
• Knowledge of working in an iterative manner (in the spirit of Agile/SCRUM methodologies).
• Willingness to learn technical concepts and drive efficiency within team.
• Translates analytics problems into data requirements.
• Deep passion for learning
Essential Responsibilities :The Data Engineering Specialist, will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include software developers, engineers, architects, and end users, working in concert with partners in GE business units.
• Development of ETL processes using PL SQL, Informatica & Unix scripts / jobs.
• Develop technical design specifications and validate approach during internal reviews.
• Performs a variety of data loads & data transformations.
• Perform unit testing and system integration testing in development environment.
• Coordinate and validate code movement between development, QA & Prod with admin team.
• Integration and knowledge transfer with the support organization.
