Shell Trading integrates a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, electrical power, chemicals and freight trading based in the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, United Arab Emirates, The Philippines and Russia. Additionally, it provides

marine expertise to operating units and manages a substantial fleet of vessels. Currently the Settlements activities are broadly divided into two areas, North America (NA) and WONA (World outside NA). The purpose of this position is to manage the Receivables Management related activities of WONA.

The Settlement processes linked to Receivables Management are complex, risky due to ever changing regulatory environment and often time critical; they involve working closely with different teams (Traders, Operations, FIB, Tax, Planning & Reporting, Financial accounting, Process Expert etc) within the Trading business at the different Trading locations.

marine expertise to operating units and manages a substantial fleet of vessels. Currently the Settlements activities are broadly divided into two areas, North America (NA) and WONA (World outside NA). The purpose of this position is to manage the Receivables Management related activities of WONA.

The Settlement processes linked to Receivables Management are complex, risky due to ever changing regulatory environment and often time critical; they involve working closely with different teams (Traders, Operations, FIB, Tax, Planning & Reporting, Financial accounting, Process Expert etc) within the Trading business at the different Trading locations.

 

Accountabilities

  • To ensure that debt collection teams perform Debt Management through proactive-reactive calls, dispute resolution, dunning process, interest charge, related reporting & manage given Controls;
  • To contact  large and/or complex customers regarding past due invoices in accordance with Debt Collection Strategy where it deems more senior and more experienced contact is required for that customer, or when there is a complaint from customers.
  • To update businesses on regular basis on Overdue status and take proactive measures to ensure the debts are collected in time.
  • Ensure that Debt collection team has a good interface and agreed ways of working with Settlements, Credit, Business teams;
  • To timely manage disputed items with customers/businesses and escalate where appropriate.
  • Ensure all debits/credits on a customer’s account are worked to conclusion with payment or internal adjustments
  • Responsible for providing report on potential bad debt for the purpose of computation bad provision for bad debt for all CoBs on a monthly basis.
  • Responsible for providing report on potential write off bad debts to the respective level of authorities for support and approval.
  • Discuss items to be provisioned with relevant people.
  • Adhering to Shell General Business Principles in all transactions and conduct of business with external parties; demonstrate and inculcate this behaviour within the team members internally.

Stakeholders

Receivables managers (part of Credit Org), Settlement Teams (issuing customer invoices), Commercial/Operations team (entering contracts/deals in Trading tools) & FMs (monitoring their legal entity working capital positions)

Dimensions

Currently WONA Account Receivables stand at USD 13 bln/month & managed by around 4 FTEs directly & several other FTEs of settlement team.

Requirements

• Qualified Chartered Accountant or MBA from a globally reputed Institute;

• Minimum 5 years of experience of working in a multinational Company

• Previous experience in areas of Receivables Management, Reporting & Analysis would be preferred;

•Proven track record to work independently with IT on automations, Analytical tools & Process improvements;

• Ability to work with massive global data & analyse it effectively to drive actions;

• Strong communication skills required to articulate challenges in day to day operations & manage business stakeholders requirement through virtual connects
