The Capital markets group (CMG) is a specialised financing arm of the NBFC; engaged into meeting short term & medium-term fund requirements of a wide range of customers PAN-India. It lends against collaterals - shares, mutual fund units, Bonds & other marketable securities.
CMG business model: A relationship cum distribution model
o Multiple products: Promoter Funding, Broker Funding (Prop), Investor Funding, Loan against Bonds, IPO Funding, ESOP Financing, Open-offer & other special opportunities, Loan against Insurance Policies and Structured Funding and Cross Selling of ABC products and Syndication.
o Varied customers range: Large Corporates, MSMEs, Equity Brokers, NBFCs, Debt market players, Ultra HNIs/HNI, Retail Investors and Corporate Employees
o Multi Sourcing channel: Direct, Investment Bankers, National Alliances, Internal Channel, DSAs
o Wide ranging Ticket Size: Right from INR 25 lacs going up to INR 20 crore per customer, the widest range in this industry.
Business challenges:
o Larger number of variables: Economic situation, Industry and Corporate Performance, Equity and Debt market volatility in price & volume, investor sentiments etc.
o Finite market size
o Competitive dynamics: Over 35 NBFCs (Foreign and Domestic), Private & Foreign Banks and select private sector Mutual Funds create fierce competition. Entry of new players and exit of few existing ones continue to add to the dynamism of the market.
o Managing marketability and volatility of securities in real time and ensuring shortfalls are promptly regularized, staying cognisant of client sensitivity also adds to the complexity.
o Restore & rebuild: Given the short-term renewable nature of the product, the loan book needs to be restored every month and virtually rebuilt every 6 months.
o Multiple market participants: the exchanges, custodians, depository participants, banks, brokers and a range of customers looking to leverage time bound opportunities. Many deals involve 3-4 of these participants interacting real-time with short time limits, thereby involving processes that need to seamlessly interact for successfully completion.
The main challenges faced by this profile include keeping abreast of the market scenario, converting a potential lead into a client thorough understanding the client requirement and providing client satisfaction by harnessing long term relationship
Critical Skill:
This profile requires are a strong network in the geography, an ability to interpret market trends, excellent communication and negotiation skills, high customer orientation and Target achievement mindsets
Education & Experience
Preferably a Post Graduate Degree or an MBA with 3 – 5 yrs experience in Capital Markets
Principal Accountabilities Accountability Supporting Actions
To deliver strong sales & budgeted NIM growth in the area
▪ Achieve the budgeted business volumes as well as Net Interest Margin (NIM) for self
▪ Focus on fee generating service offerings to meet the projected fee income
To undertake new client acquisition, retention & growth
▪ To map the target HNI clients in the geography and build relationships for generating a pipeline & disbursements
▪ Develop DSAs & direct sales opportunities for rapid customer connect
To maintain service standards and metrics of client satisfaction
▪ Stay abreast of the client requirements and monitor the relationship from origination to closure. Proactively resolve related client issues.
▪ Keep abreast of the latest trends & competition, identify new ways to engage with customer
To ensure risk management, policy adherence & documentation
▪ Awareness of all critical policies, processes & documentation for all the products & ensure compliance
▪ Monitor the client profile & the margin shortfall within predetermined time limit to ensure zero NPAs
To ensure high standards of portfolio management (Margin regularization, market intelligence &NPA management)
▪ Ensure proactive regularization of margin shortfalls based on market volatility
▪ Stay abreast of the latest developments in the local market & report for customer defaults, trends etc.
▪ Maintain good quality lending book and manage stress/overdues through active client engagement.
To formulate MIS & present them to the management
▪ Periodic reporting to HO for lead closure ratios, sales volumes, profit & status of new product launches
To Cross Sell ABC Products and Services
▪ Cross Sell other lending and wealth management services of ABC to same set of target audience
▪ Cross Sell other products and services like Insurance, financing, securities to the wider audience
▪ Manage trust and relationships with cross-functional teams as to drive One EBW culture
To contribute in own development and skill enhancement
▪ Pursue self-development actively - attend internal and external training programs, other relevant certifications that enhances the skills in the financial sales services
