• There is provision for data security and recovery control (ensuring all data is retrievable in an emergency).Roles and Responsibilities -• Establish the needs of users and monitoring user access and security
• Monitor performance and manage parameters in order to provide fast responses to front-end users
• Map out the conceptual design for a planned database
• Consider both back-end organisation of data and front-end accessibility for end-users
• Refine the logical design so that it can be translated into a specific data model
• Further refining the physical design to meet system storage requirements
• Install and test new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
• Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
• Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)
• Control access permissions and privileges
• Develop, manage and test back-up and recovery plans
• Ensure that storage and archiving procedures are functioning correctly
• Carry out capacity planning
• Work closely with IT project managers, database programmers and multimedia programmers
• Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
• Commission and install new applications and customise existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose
• Manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of a database.Qualifications -• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent degree.
• You have a strong working knowledge of Database Management standards and standard Database System Architecture.
• You have very good knowledge and understanding of various security aspects in the Database Layer
• You should have strong hands on knowledge on Database Installations, Database Administration & Management Utilities like Backup, Standards and tools
• You should have strong hands on understanding of Database Monitoring and Diagnostics and should be able to troubleshoot problems
• You Should have good hands on understanding of Database Audit related guidelines and the various standards and processes related to the same
• You Should have strong hands on understanding of Database backup, recovery, clustering and Disaster recovery processes, scripts and utilities
• You should have strong understanding Database performance aspects, utilities, scripts and Performance tuning best practices
• You should have good understanding of Data Modelling aspects and best practices from the Database Health and Performance perspective
• You should have strong knowledge of both RDBMS and NoSQL Databases and should be able to write data management scripts and manage multiple kinds of databases through the necessary guidelines, processes and utilities
• You should have experience in Windows and Linux Operating Systems and should understand the Database Management aspects in both these operating systems
• You should have a good understanding of computer networks and system software.
• You take pride in your craft and won't compromise on quality.
• You work well in a team environment, and are willing to do whatever the team needs to win.
• You have solid verbal and written communication skills.
• You have strong analytical and problem solving skills.Preferred Qualifications -1. You have total 10+ years and 7+ years of experience as a DBA in Large Enterprises on distributed systems on Intranet or Internet systems
2. You have good working expertise with Database installation, deployment and clustering topologies
3. You should have good understanding of Windows and Linux Operating systems from the Database Management perspective
4. You should have good working expertise in Database Performance tuning, Monitoring, Troubleshooting, Diagnostics, Security etc
5. You should have strong working knowledge of both RDBMS and NoSQL Databases
6. You are adept at diagnosing and debugging complex software product issues.Business Expertise -
