Pehlay Akshar Foundation is looking for an Educational Specialist - English Language Pedagogy for a new
Maharashtra State Government Project.
Job Summary:
Role and Responsibilities:
● Research the existing curriculum for 1st to 5th grade (Balbharti textbooks and MIEB textbook
content)
● Creating, editing and proofreading content for Maharashtra State board textbooks for the
English subjects for 1st to 5th grade.
● Collaboration and ideation with the Pehlay Akshar content team (integrating concepts from the
Pehlay Akshar curriculum and exiting state curriculum textbooks)
● Editing and suggesting changes in curriculum and content in Course Book
● Participating in weekly review meetings and content discussions with the Pehlay akshar team
● Submission on progress reports on work completed and submitting work for review on a
periodic basis
● Working with the Pehlay Akshar design and marketing team on the final design of the textbooks.
● Write and present research papers at conferences
● Work with the Pehlay Akshar team and manage the content being delivered through planning
weekly and monthly tasks and ensuring the goals are met for work completion within the
determined time-frame.
● Communicate progress on tasks regularly and send regular updates on the same
● Ensuring the quality of the content is being reviewed as per the set processes
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Must have:
1. Highly proficient in the English language (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
2. Experience in creation of ESOL (English as a second language) content

3. Prior work experience developing content for the state board (SSC/CBSE / ICSE)
4. Understanding of language education and the National curriculum framework
5. Ability to create and source engaging content for students
6. Ability to critically analyse questions, assessments and various types of learning modules
7. Basic technological awareness (Windows functions, MS Office, email features)
8. Excellent proofreading
9. Sticking to tight schedules and effective workload management.
10. Working with a non profit (is preferable)
