Titan Company Limited a joint venture between the TATA Group and the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) commenced operations in 1984 under the name Titan Watches Limited. Titan Company is the fifth largest integrated own brand watch manufacturer in the world. In addition to 'Titan' the watch brand, Titan Company has also built 'Tanishq' the leading jewellery brand over the past few years. Both these brands are among the most recognised and loved brands in India. After Sonata, a value brand of functionally styled watches at affordable prices, Titan Company launched Fastrack, a brand of watches and accessories for the youth. Entering the largely fragmented Indian jewellery market with no known brands in 1995, Titan Company launched Tanishq, India's most trusted and fastest growing jewellery brand. Gold Plus, the later addition, focuses on the preferences of semi-urban and rural India. Completing the jewellery portfolio is Zoya, the latest retail chain in the luxury segment. Titan Eyeplus, the third major line of consumer business from Titan Company Ltd, ventured into the eyewear segment in March 2007. Titan Eyeplus offers a variety of differentiated products to the end consumer consisting of frames, lenses, contact lenses and accessories. Benchmarked against the best in the world, Titan Eyeplus heralds standardization in the eyewear industry. With a retail footprint of over 1300 stores and a total retail area of over 1.70 mn sq ft, Titan Company has India’s largest speciality retail network spanning over 250 towns. The programme facilitates this by offering live business projects with flexible schedules and project-based employment. Described as a ‘career transition management programme’, it focuses on developing alternative talent pools in traditional and non-traditional formats. As part of the programme, selected candidates get the opportunity to work on business projects offered by Tata companies with approximately 500 hours of engagement.
