As an organization we have created an ecosystem of support for women which is focused on supporting them holistically. The objective being to enable women in their career pursuits, provide support at various life stages, and ensure that they continue to add value to the organization in alignment with their career goals.
HCL has below mentioned policies and programs in place to provide a conducive work environment for the working women. The objective being to enable them to be optimal in their output across various roles that they dispense in their personal and professional lives.
The given practices have been implemented or are at a nascent stage of implementation. They have been successful in achieving the target of reducing the stress which women might face at various stages of their career
Continuous development and reskilling: Upskilling and reskilling of the women workforce to ensure that they don’t lose out on any opportunity is key to empower them. For Women returning to work post a break, there are structured training modules available to them to come up to speed.
Under the scanner we have the other flexi options in terms of approving mini sabbaticals for women to continue with higher studies and then join back after a year, or if they would like to take 6 months off from work to address a personal situation, the organization will support it.
Two of the most important career development programs for women employees focus on providing them a clear path to climb the leadership ladder with effective mentoring by senior leaders:
1. ASCEND, which mandates increases in the representation of women in senior management via multiple ways, including support programs, mentoring/coaching at all levels, and providing platforms to enable women leaders to learn and exhibit transformational leadership.
2. STEPPING STONES, which is a focused career development program to enable mid-level female employees to realise their career aspirations and potential and help them in their developmental journey
HCL runs a number of other diversity-oriented programs which contribute towards our gender diversity agenda. Some of these are:
1 ‘HCL Women Connect’ , which advocates a gender neutral work environment by suggesting appropriate policies as well as position HCL as an employer of choice to women across the globe. This group also coaches and counsels aspiring young women professionals, shares experiences on work/life priorities and includes life coach support, daycare in office premises, concierge services, and policies such as extended maternity leave, work from home, flexible careers and flexible work hours. So far 23 women connect sessions have taken place in this FY
2 ‘Feminspiration’, which is a platform facilitated by the HCL Women Connect Affinity Network in which successful women leaders are invited to address employees and provide insights into successful leadership as well as understand perspectives on gender matters. 15 Feminspiration sessions have been conducted across globe
3 ‘Blog Her’, which is an internal platform where many aspects of gender-neutral policies are discussed. These discussions are constructive, non-hierarchical and help both HCL and employees to demystify workplace myths and stereotypes on gender, culture and other issues.
4 ‘iMotivate’ which aims to motivate women by connecting them with women leaders, and enabling them to understand how to manage their priorities and develop necessary leadership and networking capabilities to stay successful in their careers. 12 I Motivate sessions have be organised across Globe.
1. Opportunity to interact with HCL Board Members – Meetings are organised every quarter for women leaders to exchange thoughts, ideas and perspectives with HCL Board members. This provides an ‘outside-in’ view for the women leaders and also gain insights on diversity and inclusion at the workplace. 14 women leaders have got the opportunity to interact with HCL board members in this FY
2. Participation in various diversity lead discussion at renowned conferences and forum
