Culture
We are a small team with a simple set up. The two founders attribute a large part of their learnings while working in a three-member India team which looked after the India Portfolio of the NY Based fund, Acacia Partners. They are probably one of the largest FIIs in India as on date.
Acacia's history traces back to a recommendation by Mr. Warren Buffett to his then partners to invest in the Sequoia Fund, which was being founded by his friend and classmate, Mr. Bill Ruane. Ruane, Cunniff & Goldfarb, Inc. (RCG) is a value investment firm that was founded in 1969 to invest in excellent businesses run by exceptional management. Their flagship fund, Sequoia Fund, has generated outstanding long-term returns through our disciplined approach of long-term investment in growing companies.
We consider ourselves part owners in the companies in which we invest and we only purchase shares in companies whose management we regard highly – i.e., very similar to the style of Mr. Warren Buffett of Berkshi

Given our long term bias and India’s strong heritage of values combined with its economic youth, it wouldn’t surprise us at all if we accumulate and hold shares in many of these company for the coming decades.
Due to our very long-term nature, we go very deep in research. We are patient investors, always willing to remain invested for years. Our average holding period is 10 years. We have very rarely had short term capital gains or loss in our fund.
